The
Wisconsin Rapids Rotary Clubs
have initiated a cooperative effort to
finance and help with the planting
of trees, bushes and shrubs at the Centralia Senior Center in Wisconsin
Rapids. This project has been filed with Rotary International to celebrate
the Centennial Celebration of Rotary having been founded in February
of 1905.
Both
Rotary Clubs have pledged their financial and physical support for a
period of approximately three years or longer
if required.
One reason for this project was to meet the requirements of Rotary
International which is "to meet a pressing need of the community."
Also, the Centralia Center needed this support and our clubs met the
challenge.
The intent of the Centennial Projects is to offer an
opportunity to enhance
awareness of Rotary in the community. The photos on this page were taken
at the formal plantings on Friday April 30th, 2004. There were representatives
from both Rotary Clubs, the Centralia Center officers, the Landscape
contractor, the City council and the County Board as well as several
city employees of the park & recreation
department. It was a great day to start our Rotary Centennial Project.
